Shelf Life
To ensure the optimal freshness of our confections, STUZZi meticulously handcrafts each batch in small quantities, utilizing only the highest-quality ingredients with minimal to no additional preservatives. To savor our confections at their peak flavor, we advise consumption within two weeks of purchase.
To safeguard against spoilage and preserve freshness, it is recommended to store chocolate in a cool, dry environment, shielded from heat, sunlight, odors, and humidity, with a temperature not exceeding 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Although refrigeration of our chocolate or bonbons is generally not advised, following the outlined steps for longer-term storage below can effectively extend the shelf life of your treats for up to several months.
Longer Terms Storage (Up to 2 months)
For those desiring an extended storage duration for their chocolate confections, meticulous adherence to the following guidelines is recommended:
Optimal Storage Procedures:
- Place the confections in an airtight container, minimizing any vacant space.
- Extract as much air as possible without causing damage to the product.
- Refrain from reopening the container until the final step.
- Refrigerate the unopened container for 24 hours.
- Following the 24 hours, transfer the unopened container to the freezer for a maximum duration of 2 months.
When You Are Ready to Consume
Upon readiness for consumption, execute the following steps with precision:
- Extract the unopened container from the freezer and transfer it to the refrigerator, allowing it to reside there for 24 hours.
- After the 24-hour refrigeration period, relocate the unopened container to a room temperature environment (not surpassing 70°F), away from direct sunlight, for an additional 24 hours.
- Once the container has acclimated to room temperature for the specified duration, proceed to open it and indulge in the contents.
Deviation from these procedures may lead to the occurrence of bloom or spoilage. It is noteworthy that bloomed chocolate remains safe for consumption.
Two discernible types of bloom may manifest, exhibiting similar visual characteristics:
- Fat Bloom: Resulting from fat migration or temperature fluctuations, presenting as white streaks or spots that are non-sticky to the touch.
- Sugar Bloom: Arising from humidity and sugar crystallization, characterized by white streaks or spots that may exhibit a sticky texture. Additionally, discernible sugar crystals may be felt or observed.
